Australian Education Assessment Services (AEAS) has been providing a high quality assessment service for international primary and secondary school students wishing to study in Australia since 1985.
AEAS provides comprehensive testing specifically developed or selected for international school students applying to study in Australia. The AEAS Assessment includes English language proficiency, general ability and mathematical reasoning and takes students approximately 3 hours to complete under supervision.
The AEAS Assessment is insurance for both the student and the school as a comprehensive profile can be provided before the school offers a place. Analysis can be made as to the student’s capability to manage with the year he or she intends to enter and the areas the student may need support with.
Nature of Test
The AEAS Assessment is the only set of tests specifically developed or selected for international Primary and Secondary school students wishing to study in Australia.
The AEAS Assessment includes:
- English Language Proficiency (2 hours)
- Mathematical Reasoning Ability (30-45 minutes)
- Non-Verbal General Ability (30 minutes approximately)

How To Prepare?
AEAS recommends that students focus on their English language studies and their general school studies as the most effective means of preparing for an AEAS test.
Students should attend the test on the day and do the best they can. AEAS results do not specify a pass or fail – they simply provide an indication of the students’ ability on the day of testing. Individual schools will make decisions on the level the student must achieve before their application is accepted.
The most effective method to improve English language skills is to study and practice English. Practicing how to sit a test will not by itself significantly improve English language skills.
AEAS tests are generally undertaken by students’ sight unseen. This means that it is not necessary for students to see the tests or style of tests before they sit them.
AEAS does not provide test preparation courses or text books. AEAS test material and test methodology is subject to copyright. AEAS does not endorse or condone any other individual or organisation providing AEAS specific test preparation courses or textbooks.
Practice Test Materials are available for students applying to Years 10, 11 and 12. Practice Test Materials will be available in 2011 for students applying to Years 7, 8 and 9.
