Ivanhoe Grammar School is a coeducational independent school situated in suburban Ivanhoe just 10 minutes from the central business district of Melbourne. It was established in 1915 and now has an enrolment of over 1700 students. The School is endorsed to enrol International Students in all Primary and Secondary levels. Most International Students enrol in the mid secondary years.
The School has its own NEAS accredited ELICOS (Intensive English) Centre on campus and most International Students spend time in the ELICOS Centre prior to entering mainstream classes. English as a Second Language (ESL) is provided as a subject in the secondary school.
Both the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and the International Baccalaureate (IB) are offered. Students whose first language is Chinese are able to study Mandarin Chinese as their first language and English as their second language in both the VCE and the IB.
The School has an extensive and well-supervised homestay network, and assists with homestay placement. It will also provide guardianship at no additional charge if families do not have suitable contacts in Melbourne to fulfil this role.
