Sevenoaks School

Sevenoaks is a co-educational day and boarding school for students aged 11 to 18.

Rated 'exceptional' in our latest ISI report for teaching and learning, we are proud of our innovative, thinking approach to education and academic excellence, while at the same time providing a strong pastoral and co-curricular foundation.

Our superb 100-acre campus is in the Kent countryside, just half an hour from Central London and Gatwick International Airport. The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme inspires an inclusive, enriching and global dimension.

With some 1040 pupils, including international students from 40 countries around the world, the student body is lively, cosmopolitan and open-minded. Boarding is an important element in the school's daily life and ethos, while our 600-year history, location and day student body ensure that the school remains firmly grounded in the local community. There are around 350 boarders and nearly 690 day pupils. The school admits boys and girls at 11, 13 and 16. Sevenoaks has a reputation for exploring new ideas and is known for a global outlook which permeates the entire education experience.

We were the first HMC school to adopt the IB and to drop A-levels entirely. We have taught the IB for over 35 years, and our IB cohort is the largest and one of the most successful in England. In recent years we have developed our own externally moderated exams, Sevenoaks School Certificates, which are taken in Year 11.

Sevenoaks was the highest performing co-educational independent school at I/GCSE in 2014, and topped the Department for Education's KS4 performance tables in 2012, with the highest percentage of pupils achieving all subjects of the English Baccalaureate. It was listed as the top independent school at A-level or equivalent in the Independent in 2012 and as the top co-educational independent secondary school (IB) in the Sunday Times Schools Guide 2011. In 2013 the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) awarded Sevenoaks the rare accolade of 'Exceptional' for its students' achievement.
